He draws his characters from real life and society. But, as a commercial filmmaker, P. Sunil Kumar Reddy explores avenues to pack the story with some real incidents. That explains the 11 Andhra Pradesh State Nandi awards his films won. The writer-director-producer chose the devastating cyclonic storm Hudhud as the back drop to write a romantic thriller for his 12th movie.
“It is a story that deals with three aspects – before the cyclone, during the cyclone and after the cyclone. An allegory of the devastating journey symbolically narrated in the context of a romantic story of two youngsters – Karthik and Leelavathi. On the periphery, the theme also draws symbolic comparisons between man and nature and man and woman relationships. When nature is disturbed, largely due to the fallacies of mankind, the humans have to face its consequences. The same holds good in human relationships too. The protagonist in my story, Karthik is a normal guy like any other youngster of his age with hopes for a bright future. All of a sudden like a storm Leelavathi enters in his life and the subsequent incidents lead to thrilling moments. The story also deals with the consequences of extra marital affairs. But largely it is about the problems that one has to face for the mistakes man has made. The equations are the same whether the faults he has committed towards a fellow being or with nature. The screenplay is placed in real time,” asserts Sunil Kumar Reddy.
