Mi, the Chinese smartphone brand owned by Xiaomi, recently announced an increase in the prices of its mobile phones in India. This is due to the rise in input costs created by the weakening of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar. The increasing import duties, transportation costs, and GST have also contributed to the price increase. The 15-20% price hike is applicable on all mobile phones in the Mi portfolio, including the popular Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6A, and Redmi 6. Xiaomi plans to launch more expensive models with improved features in the near future to offset the price increase.
