Lucknow: BSP supremo Mayawati on Thursday demanded a CBI investigation into the recovery of over 100 bodies from river Ganga in Unnao district over the past few days.
“People of the state are terrified and most concerned following the recovery of some 104 unclaimed bodies at the Ganga ghat in Unnao and our party demands a CBI inquiry into it so that the real facts could come before the people,” Mayawati told reporters in Lucknow.
She also charged the Uttar Pradesh government of failing on all fronts especially on the law and order situation, in the wake of the hooch tragedy.
Citing the recent murder of BSP candidate from Atrauli in Uttar Pradesh Dharmendra Chaudhary, she said BSP leaders, workers and people’s representatives have been at the receiving end.
“In these conditions, the outsiders desist from investing in the state following which the chief minister and his officers have to make requests to them,” she said adding that development and economic uplift of the people of the state would not gain momentum under these circumstances.
